These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Smart Sync for Obsidian ("Smart Sync", "the Plugin"), an open-source Obsidian community plugin developed by Takehito Gondo ("we", "us"). By installing or using the Plugin, you agree to these Terms.
Smart Sync provides bidirectional file synchronization between your local Obsidian vault and your Google Drive account. The Plugin is provided free of charge as open-source software under the MIT License.
You must have a valid Google account and an installation of Obsidian to use the Plugin. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Plugin.
When using Smart Sync, you agree to:
The Plugin requires access to your Google Drive to perform synchronization. By authorizing the Plugin, you grant it permission to read, create, modify, and delete files within your designated sync folder. You may revoke this access at any time through your Google Account permissions.
Your use of the Plugin is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how the Plugin handles your information. The Plugin does not collect or transmit your personal data to any server controlled by us.
Smart Sync is released under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with that license. The source code is available at github.com/takezoh/obsidian-smart-sync.
The Plugin is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages arising from the use or inability to use the Plugin.
You acknowledge that file synchronization involves inherent risks, including potential data loss or corruption. You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your data.
We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue the Plugin at any time without prior notice. We are not obligated to provide support, maintenance, or updates.
The Plugin integrates with Google Drive and Google OAuth. Your use of these services is subject to Google's own terms and policies. We are not responsible for any changes, outages, or issues with Google's services.
You may stop using the Plugin at any time by uninstalling it from Obsidian and revoking Google Drive access. We may discontinue the Plugin or revoke access at our discretion if you violate these Terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Plugin after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
If you have questions about these Terms, please open an issue on the GitHub repository.
